Getting a handle on one’s own blood sugar level is way more important than just trying to avoid diabetes. Low blood sugar levels (and blood sugar swings from high to low, or ‘reactive hypoglycemia’) are well known to have undesirable effects in those who are not (or who are not yet!) diabetic. Irritability, difficulty concentrating, fatigue, cramping and other GI problems, and (here it comes) increased appetite are only a sample of the hassles involved with abnormal blood sugar levels.
Many people with blood sugar problems produce insulin just fine – it’s just that their cells may not be sensitive enough to the insulin that their bodies secrete, causing it to be less effective than it should be. Unfortunately, when that happens the cells of the body (all over the body) cannot adequately obtain and process glucose for energy…
…and that’s where problems arise.
So, what do you do? Just hang around and wait for bigger sugar problems (like diabetes) to occur? The common belief that, unless a person needs extra insulin for a blood sugar problem, there’s nothing to be done couldn’t be further from the truth. There are many natural compounds in nature that, working together or even individually (and along with diet, of course) can have a highly beneficial effect on helping to stabilize and control one’s blood sugar levels.
As an example, the simple amino acid L-Arginine has been found to help regulate insulin secretion in the pancreas, whether a person is diabetic or not. In the realm of herbal remedies, both curcumin (from the spice tumeric) and basil (from holy basil leaf) have been used to help handle the highs and lows of rapid blood sugar swings. Those swings come from the body getting a slug of sugar (usually refined), and then over-reactive to bring the resulting high blood sugar level as fast as possible, subsequently over-secreting insulin (that may or may not be adequately signaling cells to respond). This can drop the blood sugar too far, too fast, ultimately causing a low blood sugar state, and a multitude of those symptoms we’d rather not experience.
Arguably the ultimate herb for blood sugar problems is a really funky plant called Gymnema Sylvestre. When ground up and applied directly to the tongue, it actually removes the taste of ‘sweet’ from a sugary food, right off the bat. For someone who craves that tempting éclair or whatever and just can’t avoid taking a little bite, a little Gymnema Sylvestre on the tongue first and that long-anticipated super-sweet rush is negated (kind of makes taking a second bite not that appealing!)
Within the vitamin realm, the oh-so-versatile Vitamin D shows itself to be effective in this arena, also. “It turns out that there are vitamin D receptors almost everywhere in the human body – even in the islets of Langerhan, the structures in the pancreas that produce insulin. For people with type 2 diabetes or pre-diabetes, it seems that Vitamin D allows the body to secrete more insulin. At the same time, there’s evidence that Vitamin D may increase insulin sensitivity.” (Diabetes Forecast Magazine)
It just doesn’t get much better than that.
However, everyone’s different, so Metabolic Research Center didn’t stop there, in its search for an ultimate glucose formula. There’s the mineral chromium, the ‘blood sugar mineral’, which has even been used medically to permit lowering/discontinuing the use of pharmaceutical agents for blood sugar control.
Then, to top off the whole mix, we threw in two of the most exciting anti-oxidants available today, lipoic acid and reservatol, to help the body in its efforts to protect the body’s cells from all sorts of stresses, whether from blood sugar issues or the stresses of dealing with today’s chemical soup within which we’re all constantly swimming (be it our water, air, food, cosmetics, cleaners, pesticides, etc.).
Actually, there are even more compounds that Metabolic Research Center could (and did) consider. There are products on the market with a longer list of ingredients than ours. But to have enough of each ingredient to make the product viable for tackling its job, a long list of ingredients would involve a pile of pills, and here’s where the ‘fairy dust’ supplements come in. There are supplement products with a huge list of potentially effective ingredients…the problem is, there’s so little of each in there that there’s no chance of any of them having an effect (that’s the ‘fairy dust’). Metabolic Research Center uses amounts that have a legitimate chance of having an impressive effect, instead of having an impressive label.
You can trust Metabolic Research Center for the highest quality products. All of our vitamins and herbs are manufactured in a cGMP (Certified Good Manufacturing Practice) facility.
