Healthy Breakfast Ideas for Every Type of Morning Person

You've heard it since you were a kid: breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It's the foundation of your day and sets the tone. Knowing this, why not make sure that you start your day off right? Many of us know this time of year to be the beginning of "back to school" season; often signaling the end of vacations and the start of "back to routine" even for those of us no longer in school or without children and family members in school. For a couple months during the summer, we have a habit of breaking free of our usual day to day - and that's not a bad thing. We deserve time off, time away, and quality time for ourselves that we might not get as much of throughout the year! But, all good things eventually come to and end, and we find ourselves in need of a bit of a reset to get back into routine and back on track. 

Whether you've got 30 seconds in the morning to grab a breakfast bar before you're out the door or you've got some time to really sit down and treat yourself, we've got a breakfast idea for each of these and everything in between! For those who are short on time or the "I'm not really hungry in the morning for breakfast" type, grab a protein bar or protein drink. Proteins are made up of amino acids which are used by the body to build and repair muscles and bones and to make hormones and enzymes. Proteins also help provide a feeling a fullness - reducing appetite and hunger level between meals and may help boost metabolism and fat burning.

  • Skinny Vanilla Latte - for the person who needs that morning cup of Joe before anything else happens...this one's for you. Protein Waffles

  Ingredients:  

Instructions: In a small mixing bowl, combine all ingredients with a fork.  Pour into preheated waffle maker and cook according to appliance instructions. Serve warm with your favorite healthy toppings and sides!

Frozen Greek Yogurt Bark

Ingredients:   

Instructions: Line a baking sheet or tin with parchment paper. In a small bowl, mix together yogurt and vanilla pudding packet (if you are using the maple extract, add a few drops now). Pour mixture into parchment-lined tin and spread out into an even layer. Layer strawberries on top of mixture. If using Walden Farms Chocolate Syrup, drizzle on top now. Place pan in freezer and allow to set for at least 2 hours. Remove from freezer and pan, and cut into bite-size pieces.

Orange Pineapple Smoothie

 Ingredients:   

Instructions: Add all ingredients to a smoothie machine or blender. Blend until smooth and enjoy!

Skinny Vanilla Latte

Ingredients

Instructions: Mix Vanilla Ready Made and vanilla extract into coffee and enjoy!

Southwest Breakfast Casserole

Ingredients:  

  • 12 Egg whites  
  • 5 oz. cheddar cheese, shredded 
  • 7 oz. ground turkey breast  
  • ½ tomato, diced  
  • ½ green pepper, diced  
  • To taste: crushed red pepper flakes, chili powder, Italian seasoning, McCormick’s Montreal steak seasoning 
Instructions: Preheat oven to 375 degrees F and spray an 8x8 baking pan with cooking spray. Brown ground turkey breast with seasonings and crumble into small pieces. In a mixing bowl, combine egg whites, cheese, tomato & pepper. Add the crumbled turkey breast. Pour mixture into greased pan and bake at for 30 minutes, until golden brown.
